Tags
Organise notes with tags written right in the text, nest them, give them icons, and keep busy ones out of the main list.
A tag is a word with a hash in front of it, anywhere in a note: #ideas. The library lists every tag with how many notes carry it.
Nested tags
Use a slash to put a tag inside another: #work/clients. In the library, work then holds clients, and picking work shows the notes of both. Tap the right side of a tag’s row to fold or unfold what is inside it.
For a tag with spaces, close it with a second hash: #reading list#.
Icons and colours
Every tag gets its own colour. Hold a tag in the library to give it an icon.
Keeping a tag out of the main list
Some notes you want kept, but not in your way: logs, notes written by scripts or agents, old projects. In Settings › Hide from Notes, add the tag’s name. Its notes leave the main Notes list, wherever the tag sits: hiding melta hides #melta and #projects/melta alike. They still show when you pick the tag in the library, and search still finds them.
The list of hidden tags is kept in the notes folder, so the phone and the desktop app share it.
