Writing notes
Headings, lists, checklists, tables, code, diagrams, pictures and voice notes, and the markdown behind each.
VB Notes shows formatting as you write and saves plain markdown. You never need to type the markdown yourself; the keys over the keyboard do it for you. It’s here so you know what ends up in the file.
Text

Lists and checklists
- A bullet
1. A numbered item
- [ ] Something to do
- [x] Something done
Tap a checkbox to tick it.
Tables
Insert a table from the formatting keys. In the file it is a standard markdown table, which other apps show too.
Code
A code block is coloured by its language. Name the language after the opening fence, or leave it out and VB Notes guesses.
```js
const greet = (name) => `Hello, ${name}!`;
```
Diagrams
A code block marked mermaid is drawn as a diagram. Tap Edit to change the code behind it. Drawing needs an internet connection the first time; offline, the block shows its code.
```mermaid
Desktop -- same files --> Folder
```
Pictures and voice notes
Add a photo, take one, or record a voice note from the bar over the keyboard. The file is saved in the folder’s attachments/ and linked from the note, so it travels with your notes.
Saving from other apps
Share text, a link, a photo or a recording to Save to VB Notes from any app’s share sheet, and it becomes a new note.
